The procedure
What LASIK actually does
You're awake, but numbing drops mean you feel no pain. Just gentle pressure for around 20 seconds during the laser. The "wavefront-guided" part means it maps your individual eye and corrects for 25 unique visual aberrations: far more precise than standard LASIK.
LASIK uses a femtosecond laser to create a thin corneal flap, followed by an excimer laser that reshapes the cornea to correct short-sightedness, long-sightedness and astigmatism. The laser treatment is brief, with additional time for preparation and safety checks.

Will it hurt?
Drops numb the eye completely. You feel pressure for about 20 seconds during the laser — no sharp pain. Some patients describe a mild scratchy feeling for a few hours afterwards.
How long until I can drive, work, see clearly?
Most patients are driving within 24 hours and back to work within 1–2 days. Vision continues to sharpen over the following weeks.
Is it safe? What are the risks?
Laser eye surgery has been performed millions of times worldwide. Serious complications affect fewer than 1 in 2,000 patients. We will talk you through every risk specific to your eyes at the consultation.
What if my eyes change as I get older?
LASIK corrects your current prescription. Most people's prescription is stable from their mid-twenties. Reading vision changes are normal with age and are unrelated to LASIK.
